Initial situation |

The buidings’ structure has to bear large imposed loads of up to 12,0 kN/m² due to the nearly exclusive industrial use. A certain liberty of action is requested which would be limited by a narrow column grid. |

Solution |
| |
The above mentioned span has allowed the realisation of a slab thickness within an acceptable range for the owner (also in regard to concrete reduction). Furthermore the biaxiality of the cobiax system has allowed the elimination of columns on upper floors close to the area of the central foyer. This leads to a free view through the large glass facade which at the same time guarantees an ideal internal distribution of daylight. |

Conclusion |

The cobiax flat slab system enables the reduction of self weight which limits the long term deflection and reduces the punching shear forces around the columns. The column sizes have been kept in an economically justifiable range. |
